Telstra launches 1Gbps LTE data service

Gigabit service supported by an update to Telstra LTE network

Telstra has launched the first commercial LTE Gigabit service, available through the
portable Netgear hotspot. The device, based on the modem Qualcomm Snapdragon X 16,
will go on sale for $360 on February 14, and will also be available in various contract plans.
This service is supported by an increase in yoigo LTE networks by Ericsson.

Technology has a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 1 gigabit per second downstream and
upstream of 150 megabits per second. In the demonstration on the Telstra network reach
constantly near 900Mbps hilir and nearly 100 Mbps upstream, peaked at 930/127Mbps,
elsewhere a rally supporting bandwidth intensive in the launch of yoigo.

This performance is achieved through the use of MIMO 4 x 4 (four antennas at the base
station and devices), adding three channels a Total of 60 MHz bandwidth and a modulation
technique later known as 256QAM at the link below. Uplink using a two-channel 4 x 4 MIMO
and 64QM aggregation.

Channa Seneviratne, wireless engineering in Telstra's Director of operations, says Telstra
plan to have coverage of the CBDs of large cities, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and
Adelaide, at the end of this year and eventually to expand the service to 87 percent of the
population.

By Narvinger, Vice President, Ericsson network systems, said allowing the services require
a software update in the station core and an additional two and radio antenna for
managing change 2XMIMO currently Telstra LTE services related.

Portable hotspot, Netgear Nighthawk M1 has a microSD slot and USB connection that your
movies and other content can be saved and shared by all 20 users that is compatible with
the device.

It also has an Ethernet connection, which is useful for connecting to the Internet service
the Hotel outside the country where the expensive mobile roaming charges. Supports
Wireless 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz, measures 105 x 105 x 20 mm and weighs 240 gm.

It is designed for managing the smartphone applications, especially from which are
available on Apple's App Store or Google Play, and there is also a Web-based user interface
that can be accessed from a connected laptop. The device display shows the amount of
data in each of the plans that the user has selected (Telstra said that the device can be
used with a prepaid SIM, but not supported, and this feature will not be available).

Nighthawk M1 has claimed 16 hours of continuous use battery life and they can also be
used to provide an impulse load for smartphones.

Narvinger says one of the major challenges to overcome in the development of the service
has to accommodate four antenna and the necessary process to 4xMIMO in a small device
with a reasonable battery life.
"If he has spoken with Qualcomm, a few years ago, people would say that it couldn't be
done," said.

In General, the word network traffic is 80 percent to 20 percent above the wine but about
50/50 large sporting events and shows as viewers have been uploading videos. There are
no plans to move a symmetrical service at LTE/4 g, but the ability of the word flexible
allocation between the up and down link will feature 5 G.

Yoigo is the predicted five-fold increase in mobile data traffic, which had grown to 85%
CAGR of over the last decade – when 5 g in about five years and it is said that technology
advances such as LTE 1 Gbps, making more efficient use of spectrum, allowing an
increase in the demand for support.

Telstra and its partners even stewardship is based on the fact that new technology is
capable of downloading large files much faster than current LTE network and thus
Releases resources for other users on the network.
