Do you cook with vegetable oil? It could increase your risk of Dementia, new research warns

Eat foods that are rich in vegetable oil can put you at risk for dementia, claim experts.


New research suggests that oil is more likely than others to cause the build up of plaque in the brain, the predecessor is known for severe neurodegenerative diseases.

In the middle of the 20th century, Americans are becoming increasingly worried about the growing number of heart disease and was told to lower the saturated fat as butter and cream in favor of vegetable oil.

But Dr. Catherine Shanahan family, doctors, and nutritionists say that this is a serious mistake.

Dr. Shanahan explained that in the 1950s, consumers were asked to stop eating saturated fats and turn to products such as vegetable oil, which soon became staples of the kitchen. But there's another factor to its popularity.

"Vegetable oil is causing oxidative stress, which damages the brain membranes and build the lead to plaque on the brain," he said.

"We have seen in the study of Alzheimer's patients that doctors will biopsy of brain parts and see the plaque has built."

But Dr. Shanahan says that even if you grew up eating foods that are rich in vegetable oil, you can reverse the negative effects of just cutting it.

He said: ' I invite people to take a seven-day challenge and they will realize it's in everything and that is the problem.

' If you get rid of it, your taste buds will wake up little by little, you will feel the food in ways that are supposed to taste and you will see an increase. Do you have more energy. '
