Pitt wrestlers struggle in ACC Semifinals - After a quick start, a wrestling team of the day to Pitt back sour in a hurry. The Panthers have seven wrestlers advanced to the semifinals of the ACC tournament but can't afford to go forward.

Most teams have tough matchups against no. 1-seeded wrestler so that they have the road is difficult and is not expected to advance. Taleb Rahmani came close before getting hit with two stalling calls, sending him to the overtime bout where he lost to undefeated Hayden Hidlay in overtime, 6-4. Nick Bentley and L.J. Zanetta also wrestled tough match, losing to # 1 seed near the attack. Other results mostly as expected as Jake Wentzel and Gregg Harvey was defeated relatively easily.

But other than those few disappointments Panthers. The biggest upset came as top seeded Dom Forys loss no. 4 seed Jack Mueller Virginia. Forys didn't lose ugly, especially in fashion, but he dominated the loss 6-0. As the Panthers ' best hope for a title, losing the ACC is one of the difficult.

Pitt also caught a bad break as heavyweight Ryan Solomon was taken down in the first period and was unable to continue with an injury during a game against Duke Jacob Kasper. It's disappointing because, as I wrote in the preview, Solomon has had some success against the No. 1 seed in the past, even beat him last year. It would be great to see if Solomon could upset Kasper again.

Pitt is now of running for any individual ACC title after winning three years ago. The Panthers also will not be able to make a ton of noise from the viewpoint of a team with no champion. All ten wrestlers Panthers ' will now be in the consolation round, hopes to come away with a third place finish later. Those results will be important with the slot and the NCAA Tournament is limited to people who need to secure a broad offer.
