Tony Carr's Heroics Lead Penn State Past Ohio State Once More

Behind 25 points from Tony Carr and one big help, Penn State eliminated Ohio State of the Big Ten tournament, 69-68, tonight at Madison Square Garden.

With Ohio State leading 68-67 and clock dims, Carr found Josh Reaves to dunk with five seconds left in regulation of the restriction 5-0 Penn State running for end game 93 seconds.
C.j. Jackson come desperately close to three places to draw iron as Ohio State falls to Penn State for the third time this season.

Keita Bates-Diop led the way for Ohio State with 25 points on 10/20 shooting thanks to the strong second half that saw him tally 11 points over the final seven minutes of the game but his turnover with 21 seconds left and the Buckeyes lead Nursing 68-67 proven fatal.
Jae'Sean Tate (10) and Kam Williams (10) the only other double-figure on the Buckeyes. Tate added seven rebounds but rotten problem makes him a non-factor down the stretch.

Penn State simply shot 37.9% from the floor on the night against 44.1% for Ohio State but the Nittany Lions were outscored the Buckeyes are 16-8 from the line and win the glass including 15 offensive caroms 40-32.
Carr became only the fifth player with a couple of 25-point games in the Big Ten tournament and the first since Evan Turner flipping tricks in 2010.
The loss dropped Ohio State 24-8 on the season.


The Buckeyes opened the second-half layup from Tate, who converted the ancient three-point play to give the country a brief lead Oho 35-33. From there, however, the Nittany Lions went walking 10-2 to match their biggest lead of the game in the eighth, 45-37.
Ohio State answered with a run of their own 9-1, bordered by the impressive reverse layup from Williams. During that span, Bates-Diop collected a two-hand slam rumble, followed by Andrew Dakich steal on the next inbound.

From there, Shep Garner and Bates-Diop traded three-pointer to send the game to a tie with 49-49 10:30 to play in the game.

Penn State walking swelled to 12-0, as the Nittany Lions extended their lead to 12-4, before the Buckeyes answered with a 11-0 run of their own to take the lead 15-12 shortly after the second media timeout. During that stretch, Micah Potter, Andre Wesson and Jackson are all connected on a three-point shot, while Tate added the remaining two points on a tough layup in the lane.

After Reaves ended Ohio State's running with the ball three of his own, the Buckeyes again responded with scoring the next five to take the lead with 20-15 8:15 to play in the first round that follows the fast break layup from Dakich.
After Dakich's layup, Ohio State all players who have played against the Nittany Lions have scored, yet none has scored more than three points.

Ohio State Chairman for as many as six in the first half, but the Nittany Lions lead the 33-32 into the locker room for the second half, thanks to a superb performance from Carr and Stevens. The duo combined for 26 of the 33 Penn State half a point, as the Nittany Lions added a second chance 14 points in nine offensive rebounds in the first 20 minutes, although without leading rebounder Mike Watkins.
